Massachusetts Whale Watching
Sunday, May 11, 2008
Small boats from many ports in Massachusetts make frequent trips off the coast to observe Humpback Whales (Megaptera Novaeangliae). Individual whales may be identified by bumps on their skin called stove bolts.
Humpbacks slap their tails on the surface of the water in a behavior known as lobtailing.
