I've been collecting postcards on and off since I was a kid - exchanging them while trading zines, buying them everytime I'm on vacation, and getting them from family members who went overseas. In January 2007 I discovered Swap-Bot, and from then on I started collecting more actively! Since then I also started to swap on Postcrossing and the Postcrossing Forums.

1965 Voting Rights Act

Wednesday, December 10, 2008

With leaders of the civil rights movement standing by, President Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act into law, the federal government's ability to prevent state and local governments from denying citizens the right to vote because of their race. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 is suggested by Bruce Davidson's photograph "Youths on the Selma March" (1965).
