I've been collecting postcards on and off since I was a kid - exchanging them while trading zines, buying them everytime I'm on vacation, and getting them from family members who went overseas. In January 2007 I discovered Swap-Bot, and from then on I started collecting more actively! Since then I also started to swap on Postcrossing and the Postcrossing Forums.

Orangutan

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Orang-utan (Pongo pygmaeus) occur only in Borneo and Sumatra mostly in lowland and swamp forests. Diet includes fruits, young leaves and insects. Usually solitary, but young remain with mother until 5 to 6 years of age. Forest clearance for agriculture in parts of Borneo displaced many orang-utans. Semi-wild orang-utan in Malaysia can be seen in natural forests of Sepilok Sandakan, Sabah and Semongok near Kuching in Sarawak.
