As part of the star formation process, gaseous jets shoot from new stars in the constellation Taurus (top left), near the Orion Nebula (top right), and at the edge of the Gum Nebula (bottom). The scale at the bottom of each image represents 93 billion miles, 1,000 times the distance between the Earth and the sun.

A rare Saturnian storm appears as a white arrowhead-shaped feature near the planet's equator. The white clouds are ammonia ice crystals formed by an upward flow of warm gases penetrating Saturn's frigid cloud tops.

Death of a Star: Egg Nebula
The Egg Nebula is a large cloud of dust and gas ejected by the star and expanding at a speed of 115,000 miles per hour. Such nebulae are a rare sight; they are in an evolutionary phase that lasts a very short time (1,000 - 2,000 years).
